Safety  0 The new OSHA fiscal year started October 1, 2009 resetting the Safety Watch to zero. In the previous fiscal year, 24 immediate families in the central Texas region were devasted, 80% of which were Hispanic. Safety for Hispanics in the construction industry is a major concern for the USHCA de Austin. Hispanics suffer the highest rate of construction fatalities in the industry, and foreign-born Hispanics make up 2/3 of that majority! This is not a new development. These statistics have been gradually increasing over the decades as more and more Hispanics assume dominance of the construction workforce. It's been projected that in 2010, the U.S. will have the 2nd largest Hispanic population in the world, and it will only keep growing. USHCA de Austin uses an OSHA approved 10 Hour Safety Training program in SPANISH which is IDEAL for the Spanish speaking workforce!
